THE WAYFARER

BRIEF

Games are one of the best media to make people experience things which they haven't in the real world. Therefore if people could approach gaming as an act of creativity rather than a mass product to be consumed; games can be used to teach, show, explain and give a chance to experience other things.

Forming a new approach for gaming that privileges evoking emotions in the player over the mechanics which is very uncommon in the gaming industry was my goal while creating this project so that it can be understood as a creative medium.

RESEARCH

The project took off by drawing the concept art of the landscape and the character. Later on, using Blender for modeling and Substance Painter for texturing I recreated my sketches in 3D form. Rigging and animations were created in Blender and Unity. Finally, combined the assets in Unity. This is an early prototype of the game.

FUNCTION

To those who want to push aside the real life’s stress; catching a breath in the breeze with the tiny touch of the sun and while the breeze whispers you to take your first step into my world. That will create a new perception of games.

CONCEPT

My aim with this project is to create a relaxing, peaceful environment having imaginary landscapes to provide a warm journey for the players without any rush or stress so there is no health nor death or violence. I wanted to make players stop for a minute to enjoy nature. To evoke a sense of exploration, I tried to form big, interesting landscapes that can be seen from far away and call for the player. I decided not to have a visible UI because it will create a wall between the player and the game.

ARTBOOK

The mobile application must provide integrity with the product. The simplicity and natural image captured in the package should also be reflected in the application interface design. It should have as easy to use functions as possible by considering the user experience.
