PROSPECT

BY DENİZ GÜNDER

BRIEF

We all know that motorcyclists behave somewhat “reckless” on the roads, right? Or at least we think that way. But we never look at things from the rider’s perspective. Like why he/she rides like that in the first place? Well… here’s why, careless drivers, the lack of respect for the traffic, pedestrians jumping to the road without looking both sides, suddenly stopping commercial vehicles and busses are the most common things that put the motorcyclists’ life in danger. Drivers with such behaviors, actually scare motorcyclists. Unlike other vehicles out there, motorcycles can not provide the protection of airbags or safety belts. This leaves riders with only their protection gear which won’t help as much in fatal accidents.

RESEARCH

FUNCTION

The project aims to make the audience empathize with the amount of stress that the riders are dealing with and that motorcycle riders are not the only ones to blame out in the traffic.

CONCEPT

Since the goal is to make people understand that riders don’t ride in a reckless way just because they wanted to, but because at most points, they’re doing this to move to a more safe place for them in the traffic, the idea of making a driver look like an actual threat was put in the making. Therefore, the bizarreness of the situation could emphasize how the riders see the concept of danger in their view, and how they act towards it.

ANIMATION

Here is the finished animation about a motorcyclist's perspective on the experience of riding a bike in
